Yes I will be in Leeds running a workshop at the above event and offering some great networking Tips. I hope to see you there.

ALL NOW SET FOR THE SECOND AFRICAN AND CARIBBEAN BUSINESS EXHIBITION IN LEEDS 2010
...Showcasing African and Caribbean owned businesses in Leeds

All is set for the biggest business exhibition in Leeds targeting primarily the African and Caribbean businesses. This showcase event is scheduled to be held on Friday August 27th 2010 at the award winning SHINE on Harehills Lane, Leeds.LS8 5HS

ACBE is the idea of Mr. Sammy Omotese, concerned about the need to create an event that will promote and give access to businesses from this ethnic group. Hear him “I believe this event is not solely aimed at being an exhibition, it will stimulate interest in enterprise within the minority ethnic community, enhance the confidence of those not sure about where to go and more importantly help create a network of business people and potential entrepreneurs… We want to ensure that our exhibitors get real value by exhibiting whilst the visitors gain insights into pathways of business development.  All the participants on the day will gain meaningful information that will help propel their business forward”

Simon Brereton of Sharing the Success says of the event last year: ‘I’m especially pleased to be part of the first African and Caribbean Business Exhibition which brings together a wealth of talent, skills and creativity under one roof. These are the people doing it, not just talking about it. Importantly just being at the event means they can take advantage of the support and help available to them as businesses, which is abundant in Leeds.’

The theme of this year’s event is: ‘INNOVATE.INITIATE.INCORPORATE. This is geared towards promoting enterprise amongst the BMEs in Leeds and encouraging budding entrepreneurs to seize the opportunities available to them to create employment for themselves and others in the local community.

This years’ event will showcase 35 businesses mainly owned by Africans and Caribbeans. There will be workshops holding on the day.  Notable topics will include: ‘ How to Shine at Networking Events’ to be presented by Kennedy Imuere of SBC Marketing, London. And ‘Steps to Success in Self Employment’ by Duncan Lewis of Business Link Yorkshire. The seminars are free to attend while a token is charged for exhibiting.

ACBE has already attracted sponsorship from Sharing the Success, Ben Television, African Voice amongst others. The project is also supported by Leeds based Business Support Consultancy, JP Business Solutions.

This is a great idea, definitely what people of colour need. Everyone should do
there best to support it. I hope it goes very well. I may very well attend
myself too.
